Course Information
Duration: 3 Days
This course is designed to emphasise the value of good management of the drill string and is designed to optimise and lengthen the service life of drillstring components; prevent harm to people; and damage to equipment or the environment. The priority of course and any information within it, is not intended to replace or supersede rig operational procedures already in place.

Course Content
The integrity of the drillstring and its service life can and does become compromised by incorrect handling. For example, in the event of a stuck pipe or well control situation a drillstring which has been handled or used incorrectly can suffer a premature catastrophic failure.
This course is based on over 30 years experience in all aspects of drillstring operations from procurement to end of service life, this includes failure investigation and providing a wide range of courses for all standards and disciplines.

Course Pre-Qualification
No formal qualification is required, although experience and knowledge with regards to drilling equipment, drilling practice and procedures is advisable.
Onshore or Offshore:
The training course can be carried out as either a classroom workshop, or it can be conducted offshore. If offshore the instructor will also observe the shift crews working to capture opportunities for improvement.
Outcomes
- A better understanding of potential causes of equipment failure through the lack of careful handling and the following or correct procedure when using drilling equipment. Thereby preventing potential failure.
- A Certificate will be issued on satisfactory completion of the training.
