About Engineering
Our experienced Engineering team provides international engineering support to the Oil and Gas Industry. They work in conjunction with the other services offered by the Fearnley Procter Group and have a long history of providing assistance in all aspects of Well Engineering.
Fearnley Procter bring their over 25 years of drilling operations and drilling equipment experience to bear under the acronym PRIDE.
It describes what we do and the attitude we take in doing it well.
Properties: Assess the material properties of drillstring components, including photographic examination of failed equipment and parts; review independent metallurgical & mechanical laboratory testing to confirm that components are manufactured to specification.
Rig Operations: Review all available operational data to build chronology of events, identifying any periods during which failures occur. (Well trajectory, fluid types, formation, drilling drag charts, time based digital data). Review of competency, processes and standards used, and the oversight available.
Inspection: Review pre and post job equipment inspection reports, service and repair history, standards and specifications in use and frequency of inspection.
Design: Prior to use, the design of equipment to be employed can be assessed for its performance properties and for its approach to the prevention of failure during use. Any runs in which drillstring components fail are reviewed against the principle guidelines contained within the NS-3™ Drill String Design Manual to assess whether the operating parameters exceeded the design limits for the failed component.
Environment: Review available environmental data to assess severity of the operating environment. Adverse well conditions will increase the probability for failure for example – presence of H2S, chemical usage, temperatures, well bore instability, over gauge hole, high doglegs (bending stresses), conditions leading to pipe buckling, excessive corrosion, etc.
We aim to provide our clients, a mix of major and independent operators, manufacturers and contractors with cost effective solutions to these operational challenges.
Our Engineers supporting our QAQC teams, are flexible and can be mobilised at any time.
Fearnley Procter provides Specialist Engineering expertise. Having access to credible independent advice to prevent things going wrong - or to find the reason why - is critical to understanding how operations can minimise equipment failures or avoid their re-occurrence.
Our Fearnley Procter Engineering team provides worldwide access to experienced engineers who specialise in failure investigations and preventative measures to avoid costly failures in the first place.
